·         Uses of financial analysis — using financial statement analysis to analyze company operating strategies and their success

·         Performance evaluation analysis

·         Developing cash flow forecasts based on company operating strategies

Students will gain an understanding of the basic terminologies and methodologies of financial statement analysis.

 

Students will understand:

 

·   how to analyze financial statements.

·   how the company’s financial statements are driven by the company’s operating strategies.

·   how to develop cash flow forecasts and pro forma financial statements.

 

 

·         Financing sources

·         Overall capital structure design

·         Choices among financial instruments to implement desired capital structure

·         Risk management

·         Students will be able to understand and choose among the different financing

·         sources available to their companies.

 

 

Students will understand:

   

·         how to communicate more effectively with financial specialists at their companies

·         how capital structure and financing decisions affect the operating strategies of their companies

·         how the company’s operating strategies affect the company’s financing decisions

·         the concept of financial risk management and when risk management is likely to be beneficial

 

 

·         Evaluating projects using net present value

·         Calculating cost of capital

·         Valuing companies

·         Restructuring and acquiring companies

·         Students will assess the desirability and value of investment projects, and assess the corporate assets of an acquisition, as well as the entire company.

 

 

Students will understand:

·          

·         how to evaluate the desirability of investment projects

·         how to calculate and explain the cost of capital

·         how to identify and analyze the key variables in an acquisition

 

IV. One program day (either an entire day or two half days) will be reserved for corporate visits.  Approximately three or four visits will be arranged in mutual agreement with Renmin University, with the following two financial exchanges strongly recommended:
